Bradshaw described the film as "an almost, but not quite a Dales Brokeback , " and also as a "very British love story, bursting at the seams with unspoken emotions, unvoiced fears about the future, and a readiness to displace every emotion into hard physical work".

He wants you to point others to Him. So let your chosen profession show that you have chosen to follow God. God wants you to conduct your affairs as if they were His affairs. God wants commerce to be done in a way that people see Him in the transaction. He wants commerce to be done in a trusting environment in order to deepen the relationships that people have with each other. God is not interested in allowing people to cheat others.

That causes division and tears the fabric of society. God wants His way for business to protect us from ourselves. God keeps us on the narrow path so that we can enjoy our relationships with others more. He wants our business dealings to draw us closer to each other and not further apart. Your business is not really your business. He owns it—because He owns it all.

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills Psalm The world and all its fullness is His Psalm ; Psalm ; Psalm When you realize that you do not really own what you own, it puts everything in a new light. You do not really own your business; you are but a steward of that business. And that business belongs to Him. Well God has very specific instruction. In a nutshell, he wants us to function in a way that brings him glory. And all should be handled so as to make Jesus look good. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Everything we do should serve him. May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. It seems that as humans, we either live with idols and find fulfillment in them and are lost, or, through the power of the Spirit we find life in Jesus and fight for holiness.

In Matthew we read the parable of the talents.

The Pleasure of God in His Creation

In this story those who worked faithfully for the master until his return entered into the joy of the master. But the servant who refused to work for the master was thrown into darkness. While money is used in the parable, it is about more than money. Not perfectly of course.

But there will be fruit that can be attributed to your new life in Christ. Being a faithful Christian financial steward is vitally important.

Our interests are divided, and our loyalties are split if we have a mine mind. Earthly, ownership thinking is wrong and tempts us with an autonomous, self-centered disposition that defeats our call to serve Jesus with his resources. In the economy of this world, we have ownership. God owns, and gives, and takes away.
